What is the PTI ProEdge Smart Latch?
The ProEdge is a next-generation Bluetooth-enabled smart lock designed specifically for the self-storage industry. It replaces traditional manual padlocks, allowing for keyless access, automated rentals, and remote overlocking.
How do tenants access their storage units?
Tenants use the StorID mobile app on their smartphones. Using Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) technology, they can simply swipe within the app to unlock their unit when they are within range (up to 30 meters).
Does ProEdge work with my existing storage doors?
Yes. ProEdge is designed as a retrofit solution. It is compatible with both flat and corrugated doors and its universal design accommodates both left-handed and right-handed door configurations.
How long does the battery last?
The unit is powered by a Lithium-Manganese Dioxide battery designed to last approximately 3 years or over 6,500 lock/unlock cycles. It includes a “wake” function to preserve battery life when not in use.
How does automatic overlocking work?
ProEdge integrates directly with StorLogix Cloud and your Property Management Software (PMS). If a tenant becomes delinquent, the system automatically “overlocks” the unit by disabling their Bluetooth access. Once the balance is paid, access is restored automatically without requiring a manager to visit the unit.
Is the ProEdge latch weather-resistant?
Yes. The ProEdge features a stainless steel casing and has an IP55 rating, making it suitable for various environments. It is tested to operate in temperatures ranging from -35°C to 65°C.
How does the system detect tampering?
The latch includes a breakaway tab and an onboard accelerometer. If someone attempts to force entry, the breakaway tab is triggered, and the system sends a real-time tamper alert to the operator via StorLogix Cloud.
What monitoring capabilities does it offer?
Operators can view real-time access logs and lock status through the StorLogix Cloud platform. Additionally, an onboard LED light on the physical latch provides a visual indication of the lock’s current status.
