All PTI Keypads come with an integrated tamper switch that will prevent the device from accepting new codes if it has been triggered. Are Apex keypads built for outdoor use?
Yes. Apex keypads feature rugged metal outdoor enclosures made of 1/8” thick aluminium. They are powder-coated to resist fading and chipping and include a two-layer UV coating and watertight construction to withstand harsh weather conditions, including heavy rain and intense sun.
Can I customise the messages shown on the keypad?
Absolutely. The 4-line high-resolution display allows facility operators to show customisable messages, which can be used for branding, tenant instructions, or personalised greetings in multiple languages.
How does the integrated tamper switch work?
Every Apex keypad comes with an integrated tamper switch. If the device is tampered with or opened without authorisation, the switch triggers a security protocol that prevents the device from accepting new codes until the issue is resolved and the system is reset.
Does the Apex keypad support proximity cards or cameras?
Yes. The Apex series is highly customisable. Options include integrated pinhole cameras for visual verification, two-way intercoms for communication, and proximity card readers for touchless access.
What is the warranty on PTI Apex keypads?
As of December 15, 2025, all new PTI equipment (including the Apex series) is available with a 2-year warranty, demonstrating PTI’s commitment to product durability and quality.
What mounting options are available?
Apex keypads offer flexible mounting configurations to suit different facility needs, including gooseneck stands for gate control, flush-mounts for hallways or elevators, and box-mounted options for building access.
How far can the keypad be located from the controller?
Using RS485 communication, an Apex keypad can be located as far as 1,200 metres (approximately 4,000 feet) from the system controller, provided the correct shielded twisted-pair cabling is used.
